About Jeanne McGee

Jeanne McGee is an artist who works in a variety of mediums - printmaking, drawing, textile design and sculpture that explore the form, color and intricacies of the natural world. Originally from San Francisco, she grew up with nine brothers and sisters a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean. Her artistic inspiration and love of the outdoors were nurtured by family camping trips and a creative environment - Dad was a sportswriter, Mom a watercolorist and several of her siblings are also artists and writers.

Jeanne received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1994, where she studied printmaking. Jeanne exhibited her prints in a one-person show at the Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis in 2003, and her drawings were shown at Milikin University in Illinois in 2002. Her work was also included in three national printmaking invitational exhibitions: The Print Show at Kerns Art Center in Eugene, Oregon, Printmaking by Hand at the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design, and Prints, Paper & Books at Gallery 110 North in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Jeanne currently teaches a course on woodcuts through the University of Minnesota at Highpoint Center for Printmaking. Jeanne lives in Minneapolis with her partner Peter Gross, a comic book artist, and their 3 year-old daughter Alice.
